Conrad Cartagena: Unexpected Luxury

The Conrad Cartagena is a brand new hotel. It is located about 15 minutes outside of the walled city (the only real con). Candidly, this was my first time to Cartagena and I didn’t find the hotel’s location that bad. That being said, if you want to be in the mix of the walled city all day, walking around, and exploring, this may not be the hotel for you. We did a lot of exploring but had to rely on taxis – more on that here.

Why Cartagena, Colombia should be your next Caribbean destination

If we’re being honest, Colombia has never really been on my radar. But I wanted to go somewhere different, warm, and relatively close. Being in D.C., that ruled out just about everywhere except the Caribbean. I’ve never really thought of Colombia as being “Caribbean” in the way that I think of Jamaica or Barbados, for example. But Colombians do and now I will forever.
